Schematic and PCB Design Software
DipTrace is an advanced PCB design software application that consists of 4 modules: PCB Layout with high-class auto-router and 3D PCB Preview, Schematic Capture, Component and Pattern Editors that allow you to design your own component libraries. DipTrace is a useful pattern editor, component editor and much more.
The software features a comprehensive interface, that enables you to easily identify the components and connectors you need in order to build your PCB.
A schematic can be converted to a PCB with one mouse click. Advanced manual placement and auto-placement features allow to get acceptable placement in several minutes.
The board designer can instantly renew the PCB from an updated version of schematic and keep all previous work without changes. PCB and Schematic can be compared at any design stage to ensure they are identical. Hierarchical and multi-sheet schematics are supported.
DipTrace has a powerful automatic router. It can route a single layer and multilayer circuit boards, and there is an option to autoroute a single layer board with jumper wires, if required.
DipTrace also provides you with external autorouter support. Smart manual routing tools allow users to finalize the design and to get the results they want in a blink of an eye. Accurate shape-based copper pour system with different possible fill types and thermals is available.
Other important features are Electrical Rule Check (ERC), Design Rule Check (DRC) and Net Connectivity Check - the functions that check connections in Schematic by different rules (pin type, short circuit, etc.), the clearance between layout objects, which ensures board accuracy, and connectivity of all nets not depending on how they are connected (with traces, thermals or shapes).
DipTrace modules allow you to exchange schematics, layouts and libraries with other EDA and CAD packages. DipTrace Schematic Capture and PCB Layout also support popular netlist formats and spice. Output formats are DXF, Gerber, Drill and G-code. Standard libraries include 100.000+ components.
Multi-Level Hierarchical Schematics
Schematic Capture is advanced circuit design tool with support of multi-sheet and multi-level hierarchical schematics. This module of DipTrace delivers number of features for visual and logical pin connections. Cross-modules management ensures, that principal circuits can be easily converted to PCB, back annotated or imported/exported from/to other EDA, CAD and net-list formats. Verification and Spice export for simulation allow for full project analysis.
Visual and Logical Structure
All actions and features are visual and intuitive for designer. Component pins can be connected visually by wires and buses or logically without wires, using net ports, bus ports or by name.
DipTrace hierarchical schematic is based on multi-sheet circuit structure. Hierarchical blocks can be inserted into main sheet or into each other as many times as needed. Hierarchy verification reports loop structures if exist.
Electrical Rule Check
ERC helps to ensure that engineer works in error-free design environment. Electrical Rule Check with detailed customization reports short circuits, superimposing pins, one-pin nets and checks connections by pin types.
Import / Export
Schematic capture module allows to exchange schematics and drawings with other EDA/CAD packages (DXF, Eagle, P-CAD, PADS, OrCAD). Net-list Support: Accel, Allegro, Mentor, OrCAD, PADS, P-CAD, Protel, Tango.
Advanced Routing Capabilities
PCB Layout is high-level engineering tool for board design with smart manual routing, shape-based autorouter, advanced verification and wide import / export capabilities. Design requirements are defined by net classes, class-to-class rules and detailed settings by object types for each class or layer. DipTrace features design process with real-time DRC, which reports errors on the fly before actually making them. Board can be previewed in 3D and exported for mechanical CAD modeling. Design Rule Check with in-depth detailing, Net Connectivity verification and comparing to source schematic ensure maximum quality of the final product.
Smart Project Structure
DipTrace is single environment with direct circuit-to-board converting, updating from schematic and back annotation. Nets are divided to net classes with custom settings and class-to-class rules. Through and blind/buried vias are organized to Via Styles.
Components can be placed manually by simple drag&drop and special "Place by list" feature or automatically according to custom settings and with optimized length of traces. For excellent results use combination of all available placement methods.
Fanout feature is available for nets, components and single pads. It connects SMD pads to inner board layers by vias of selected styles. DipTrace offers default fanout templates for BGA, SOIC and QUAD footprints. Autorouter can be set to create fanouts as well.
DipTrace high-class shape-based autorouter with advanced settings is capable of routing complex multi-layer boards, as well as simple single-layer boards with jumper wires. DSN/SES interface provides support for external routers (Specctra, Electra, Topor etc.)
Traces can be created with 15, 30, 45, 90-degree and free angle lines or with arcs and curves. Hot keys allow to change route mode, current segment's geometry, width, layer, via style and other parameters on the go. Existing traces can be easily moved or changed without losing geometry, while different highlight options ensure friendly working process. Smart shape-based copper pour system with pour priority and automated settings expand engineering opportunities even more.
Advanced Verification Features
DipTrace provides error-free design environment from component creation to board manufacturing. DRC verifies clearances between design objects and size limits, while rules are defined by object types, layers, net classes and class-to-class settings. Real-time DRC checks every action and shows errors before actually making them. Net Connectivity guarantees that all nets had been properly routed and reports broken and merged nets. Comparing to schematic allows to find differences between PCB and source schematic.
3D PCB Preview & STEP Export
PCB Layout module includes real-time 3D preview feature with hardware acceleration. It shows model of manufactured printed circuit board with all components installed. You can rotate board in three axes, zoom in and out and change colors of the preview. Board can be exported to STEP or VRML 2.0 format for mechanical CAD modelling. 3D feature supports *.wrl, *.3ds, *.step and *.iges 3D component models. More than 3500 3D models are available with the program.
Import / Export
Exchange layouts and libraries with DXF, Eagle, P-CAD/Altium, PADS and OrCAD. Import net-lists from Accel, Allegro, Mentor, PADS, P-CAD, Protel and Tango formats.
Industry-standard RS-274X Gerber, Excellon N/C Drill, IPC-D-356A Netlist, Pick and Place and DXF files. Vector and TrueType fonts export. Milling method support.
Smart Component Management
DipTrace is always up-to-date, we continuously expand component libraries and bring innovations directly to you. Standard library set already includes more than 120,000 components and 10,700 patterns. Pattern and Component Editors allow to design your own components with custom templates, bulk pin naming, pad renumbering and bus management instruments, which significantly increase working speed. Importing libraries and 3D models from various formats adds even more engineering capabilities. Component and Pattern library verifications ensure error-free design environment from the early beginning.
This DipTrace module allows to manage pattern libraries and draw patterns with various types of shapes, pads, holes and dimensions. Circle, Lines (headers, DIP), Square (QFP), Matrix (BGA), Rectangle (RQFP) and Zig-Zag standard templates provide significant production speed-up. Creation of pattern is basically selecting template, entering couple of vital parameters, drawing silkscreen and launching automatic pad numbering. Custom templates can be created for non-standard patterns. DXF import makes creating complex layouts easier.
Allows to manage component libraries and create single- or multi-part components by selecting template and its dimensions, defining visual and electrical pin parameters, setting up Spice model and attaching Pattern with 3D model to finalize component creation. Bulk pin naming and pin manager tools provide friendly interface and give maximum capabilities for managing pins and buses. Importing libraries from different EDA formats gives capability to use existing shared or "previous software" components instead of making them from scratch.
Are necessary for correct 3D board preview and export. More than 3500 3D models are avialable for free download, while new models can be created in various external 3D editors and imported in STEP, IGES, WRL or 3DS file formats. DipTrace offers convenient 3D model attachment system with comprehensive settings, real-time 3D preview and various color templates.
Real-Time 3D Preview & Export
DipTrace PCB Layout module includes real-time 3D preview & Export feature. It shows model of manufactured printed circuit board with all components installed. You can rotate board in three axes, zoom in and out in real time, change colors of the board, copper areas, solder mask, silkscreen and background. 3D preview works on all stages of the design. Board can be exported to STEP or VRML 2.0 formats for mechanical CAD modelling. More than 3500 3D models of PCB packages are supplied for free. Externally designed 3D models in *.wrl, *.step, *.iges and *.3ds formats can be uploaded and attached to patterns in Pattern Editor or PCB Layout.
