Description from the Publisher

Simply Integration is the producer of Interface Architect a Microsoft Windows application which may be used to document the integration of systems within an organisation, by guiding users in the entry or automated-import of system interface details (eg program API signatures for RPC, flat-file definitions for ETL, XML and JSON definitions for middleware and SOA, and relational DB object signatures for data transfer) , and defining the mapping rules that exist for communications between them.

The creation of interface specifications is vital for large distributed systems, for both their strategic design and future maintenance. Traditional methods for capturing these have included the use of Word documents and spreadsheets, which have proved difficult to standardise, version, and share accurate and complete information among team members. Interface Architect addresses these issues by providing an easy-to-use interface with tooling, a database back-end for shared storage and version, and also provide the ability to publish complete documents in MS-Word and Excel formats.

Features

Interface Architect provides a rich and modern user-interface within Microsoft Windows to allow for easy definitions of system interface details and mappings. Its target users include include IT analysts, developers, testers and other stakeholders of system integration teams within organisations.Interface Architect focuses on resolving common problems when creating interface mapping specifications, as described here, by providing the following features:

  • Allows storage of interface definitions; both flat structures (eg flat-files) and hierarchical (eg XML documents), including field names, constraints and descriptions, within a local or central SQL Server database for shared concurrent access and contribution.
  • Allows for interfaces to tables, views and stored procedures of Oracle and SQL Server databases to be directly-imported.
  • Allows for simple XML schema to be imported.
  • Prompts for the input of required information, and validates this where possible.
  • Allows for mapping rules for communications between interfaces to be clearly specified, based on the interface definitions.
  • A non-functional requirements library can also be configured, so that they are clearly-listed for capture when creating mapping documents.
  • Allows for storage of sample messages for each entity definition.
  • Changes to interfaces and mappings are tracked by user.
  • Interface specifications can be exported as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Flexible control resizing and multiple-monitor support allows users to easily-view information required for creating valid mappings.
